Cold Water Therapy

With Pammy

Cold water therapy (also known as cold hydrotherapy or cold water immersion) is a restorative activity that involves immersing yourself in cold water – typically lower than 15ºC in temperature – for various health benefits, including invigorating your mind and body.

Whether it's taking cold showers, submerging in ice baths, or swimming in ice-cold lakes, the theory is that it can promote improved circulation, reduce inflammation, enhance athletic recovery, boost mood, and strengthen the immune system.

While the scientific evidence is still evolving, many people swear by its effects on their health and well-being.

I recently went to one of Pammy‘s mindfulness day retreats. It was the most beautiful setting with the opportunity to experience a sound bath and a cold water plunge. I wasn’t sure what to expect as it was a new experience for me but I loved it. it gave me time to truly focus on myself. With the chaos of life and work and the challenge of keeping the balance just right I came away feeling energised and the day was amazing. I also had the opportunity to experience an ice bath. I was so nervous but it was the most invigorating experience. The whole day made me realise how important it is to take time out for myself, to have the opportunity to truly ground myself and implement the practices regularly into my daily life. Thank you so much Pammy.

I really enjoyed the day I spent with Pammy. She was wonderful. I felt at ease and looked after, that the session worked so personally well for me while seeing others feeling the same. To together we completed a grounding mindfulness, a lovely lunch, some time for journalling and self reflection, before the plunge into the ice bath. Such an amazing experience literally and mentally so refreshing - can’t wait to experience the ice bath again.

The retreat was such a special and memorable day in the most beautiful location. Pammy went above and beyond to make us all feel relaxed and welcome, settling any nerves we had about trying cold water therapy for the first time, she was really with us every step of the way and I was surprised at how refreshing it was. She also provided a delicious lunch, being so considerate about any dietary requirements and the most thoughtful gift bag. The sound bath with Georgia was such a beautiful and moving experience and being surrounded by an incredible group of women made the day even better. It really was the most relaxing and healing day, full of positive energy.

How To Begin Cold Water Therapy

Embracing cold water therapy might seem off-putting at first, especially if you’re not a cold water fan. So before you dive headfirst into this new phase, it's essential to begin cold water therapy gradually. Starting slowly and building your tolerance over time can help you reap the rewards without feeling overwhelmed. Here are a few tips to get you started:

Start with a cold shower

A cold shower can help you understand how your body reacts to cold water. Over time, gradually reduce the water temperature and increase the amount of time you can handle it.

Take a cold water plunge bath

Once you’ve built up your tolerance to cold water, take a cold water plunge bath for 3-4 minutes. This plunge can increase metabolism, burn fat, and improve circulation for enhanced well-being.

Go wild swimming

Take cold water therapy to the next level by going wild swimming in the river, lake, or sea.

Health declaration and waiver to be signed prior to starting. Please get in touch today if you have any questions at all.

From October/November I will be available to hold group workshops which will include the health and safety of cold water exposure, breathing techniques and taking an ice bath or wild swim.

This is also available as an extended 1:1 coaching session to include Mindfulness, breath, and CWI. These will be over several sessions to build your resilience, strength and endurance.

Get in touch today to find out more and to book.
